BOOK REVIEWS

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said The August Assassin was, "extraordinary and compelling."

United States Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge said John Elliott's autobiography was, "astounding."

Well known author, the untimely late Tom Clancy wrote about The August Assassin, saying, "I write fiction based loosely on some known facts. This book is fact, so deeply disturbing you will be wishing it were fiction. It will keep you awake at night and, when sleep comes, your nightmares will begin."

Former Minnesota Governor and Navy SEAL Jesse Ventura said, "There is a small minority in the government that does this. Let's just hope their sights are aimed at the enemy."

Venezuelan President, the late Hugo Chavez, said of the author and his autobiography, "In 2003 I promised to send the proof. The proof has now been sent to me ... this book is the proof. This American killer, an emissary of the devil, was one of those tasked with my destruction. He failed to act, and is lucky to be alive. He was shrouded in treachery, and was a scourge to our Colombian friends ..."

Actress Maria Conchita Alonzo, speaking about Hugo Chavez, said, "I would encourage you to investigate in depth the inside story and realize for yourself the dark side of the person ..."

That is no longer the case." Mrs. Arafat then attempted to have her husband's body exhumed in an effort to determine if he had actually been poisoned as the book's author had claimed. Arafat's body was exhumed in November of 2012 but, according to the Times of Israel, the results from the Polonium-210 poisoning tests have yet to be released.

Bill Erfurth of Modern City Entertainment, in a run-up to a movie production, read Zephyr, the follow-on book to The August Assassin, and said it was, "... enthralling reading. Intriguing!"

When it comes to the author's latest novel, After The Eleventh Hour, Katheryn Landon of Manchester, England, wrote the following: "I've read three of this man's books, and he gets better and better. This is the one book you just can not put down. I loved it from beginning to end, and it is so relevant in today's world of mystery and intrigue, and, as we're quickly finding out here in England, a world where Muslim savages are a growing threat to all of us."

And in regards to the author's novel entitled, After the Eleventh Hour, John McGill of Atlanta, Georgia wrote the following: "Wow! A page-turner hardly begins a description. Because it was a cold night during a recent backpacking trip, I crawled into my tent soon after sunset, and in the warmth of my sleeping bag, I began to read. After falling asleep a few hours later, I awoke several times during the night and resumed the read. I finished during breakfast.

I can find no greater compliment than to say that it was just not your pacing, but more your credibility that bound me. To me the detail and specifity of your descriptions were self-authenticating. That bound me to the characters and plot. I find in lessor works, it is often the other way around."

Sally Stokes of the BBC in London, England, said of the author's book about his father, Life According to Dad, that it contained, "stories that are funny and touching."

Be ready to feel deep emotions while reading this loving book John Elliott has written about his father, Henry H. Elliott, Jr., who graduated from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD in 1939 ... Hitler had begun his planned ascent to overtake the world. Henry's personal battles against Hitler, as he worked undercover, nearly cost him his life. But as his son, John relates through many heart-warming tales about his family, his dad didn't explain the complexity of his dangerous involvement in fighting the Nazis until he was much older ... the story so clearly illustrates complexities of love within a family. And John's reflections of life with his dad will open your heart and rekindle memories of your loved ones, filled with laughter and warmth."

Uzi Gal of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, via Israel, the remarkable inventor of the Uzi line of outstanding firearms, while at a conference in Washington, DC before his unfortunate passing away in September of 2002, jokingly said to the author, "Don't make my guns look bad with your poor shot placements!"

Lauri Stevens, a Social Media Strategist for Police/Law Enforcement, stated that, "John 'Chappy' Elliott is the ultimate gentleman, patriot and hero. He served as a police officer for nearly 40 years and during that time also served the world as a government sniper / counter-terrorist. Today he is a writer and public speaker, and in retirement still a staunch supporter of law enforcement, writing about post traumatic stress disorder, surviving shootings, street awareness, hand-to-hand survival, and etc. I'm personally and professionally very honored and proud to know him and to work with him to promote and support his important work, past and present."

Of John Elliott's book, Don't Be a Victim!, in June of 2013, Josh Haney wrote, "Crimes happen every few seconds in the United States, this is a simple fact that we have all come to deal with. Everyone has experienced it, and if you haven't yet, odds are definitely against you. More and more common, is the fact that you or someone you know will be the victim of a violent crime. This is, unfortunately, the stark reality of the world today. Nothing against our law enforcement officials, but, chances are, a police officer will only be there to either take statements or clean up the mess afterwards. But this doesn't have to be the case. Arming yourself with knowledge and developing a tactical mindset could be the difference between you or your loved ones becoming victims or victors in such a situation. This usually requires years of training, but John Elliott has teamed with Prepper Press to distill his quarter century as a police officer, and virtually double that as a member of the State Department, bomb tech, and member of Interpol, into a crash course that can teach anyone how to avoid becoming prey to the predators out there.
We start with a discussion on the reality of crime. This is a harsh reminder that many may find hard to stomach, but most need to learn before it becomes too late. Elliott then takes us through burglaries, security, travel both foreign and domestic, theft, scams, road rage, drugs. This is just a short list of all of the subjects he covers, each given the full knowledge he honed over years in the field. Reality based information of this caliber will not only save lives, but decrease the chance that you would ever end up in situations that would lead to crime."
Haney goes on to say, "Usually, this is the kind of education you could only get by going to the academy, but Prepper Press has once again done what they do best, place lifesaving skills in the hands of those who want to learn them. Don't Be A Victim is destined to become the definitive text on crime prevention."

Ken Jefferson of WJXT Television 4 in Jacksonville, Florida, in a foreword to the author's book, Don't Be a Victim! wrote, "This book will empower you."

Interpol, in Lyon, France, obtained a copy of Don't Be a Victim! and their public affairs division stated that the book was, "The perfect answer for the rising level of crime around the world."

Book reviewer James M. Dakin of Elko, Nevada, read Don't Be a Victim! and wrote, "... this book isn't like most of the other police officer written drivel out there about burglar alarms and getting an escort to your car, but more in the line of the higher caliber of offerings ... and should prove worth your investment ... this book does offer up-to-date advice of how criminals operate and how to even up the odds against them ... I would recommend it if you are middle class and living in the city ... the advice here is sound. Recommended."

Regarding Don't Be a Victim, Soupbone commented in Amazon.com that, "If you're shopping for this book AFTER you've been the victim of a crime, you'll read it wishing you'd bought it long ago. The book is full of no-nonsense, practical advice to avoid being the victim of crime under all different circumstances. I thought some of the advice would seem obvious, and while some of it is, it covers suggestions and ideas I would never have considered. The author does a great job describing how and why, while weaving in various interesting stories from his professional background."

Michele Moore of New Bern, North Carolina wrote, "I just finished reading this book. While it did have some things of just common sense, there was a huge amount of information that really opened my eyes as to the danger all around us and how we can protect ourselves from it. This was really a good read. I almost feel I know this author. His book, Surviving Terrorism, is excellent too, especially if one is planning foreign travel."

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa, Canada, reviewed Surviving Terrorism, and called it, "The one most relevant literary works on the subject of modern-day terrorism ever written."

Roman Catholic Bishop Luigi Padovese learned that the author was conducting investigations into the Vatican's vast hidden and shameful secrets, stolen Jewish old world masterpieces, undisclosed Swiss bank accounts, and the church's collusion with the Nazis in WWII and the mafia following the war, and that an expose was planned. The title of the book will be The Vatican Betrayals . The bishop, realizing the danger and the potentially catastrophic damage if the information was to ever be made public, then wrote an astounding letter to the author, saying, "Stop these enquiries. They further no cause. There will be nothing good coming from them. Yesterday's imperfections should not prevent us from striving to achieve perfection in the future." In the summer of 2010, Bishop Padovese was found murdered on the steps of his home in Cyprus. He had been be-headed. The book is due for publication in the fall of 2016.

Margo Julianna of Coffee Time Romance wrote about The Ellsworth Express saying, "Summer is almost over and school is going to start soon in Columbia Falls, Maine. Like all children, Jeffery, James, Jack and Francesca are wondering what is in store for them in the upcoming year. But no one expects they will embark on a mysterious adventure, starting with the new student with the white shock of hair. Tobias Franklin seems very out of place in town, with his strange accent, odd clothes and blinding white hair. But when he is bullied by another student, Jeffery, James, Jack and Francesca decide to stick by him to keep him safe. Then they learn that Tobias (or Toby) has lost his dad in the Civil War and that he thinks it is the year 1865. The children are shocked to hear this. Even more when they hear the old legends about the fog that rolls in from the ocean and the ghost train that appears and takes its passengers on a ride though time. But they are determined to be good friends to Toby while he is in town and attempt to find a way to get him back to the time period he belongs to. This is a lovely book for young readers and deals with important issues such as bullying and the meaning of true friendship. I enjoy the mystery of the ghost train and the fog, and how the children accept and support one another though good and difficult times. A recommended read."
